Given that the UCM needs to be within a few inches of the target device to have it\'s firmware upgraded, does this mean I would need to remove the entire KT03 from the wall, removing the mounts, and connecting the KT03 in situ where the UCM is ?
Or can the upgrade be performed directly over the local KT03 USB ?
or have I misunderstood how this works ?

The UCM must be connected to the KT03 via the programming cable
It is easier to connect a long wires to the UCM and bring it to the KT03, then connect the laptop

If the UCM must be #1, then that\'s the UCM normlly located in the Comfort main panel.
So I either remove the KT03 from the wall, or the UCM from inside the Comfort panel.
Where do you get the long UCM wires from ?

Any convenient UCM can be used for upgrading, not just #1, but there will be no trouble alarm if you disconnect UCM #1
You can use any long cable with 4 wires for KA, KB, 12V, COM connected between the UCM terminal blocks and the corresponding terminals on Comfort .
Alternately you do not need to connect to Comfort, just connect the UCM to the KA, KB, 12V, COM at the back of KT03 but you would need to remove the KT03 PCB from the housing. Whichever is easier
