I am strongly of the opinion that any iphone app should have a DEDICATED UCM that is locked down.
There is simply too much leeway for the app to not work (because of network / router issues out of the control of the installer / cytech).
ANY means of reducing the possibility of a customer coming up with \"it mever worked properly\" type comments has to be a step in the righ direction.
Feed back and comment please other wise Cytech are going to release this on a standard Ehternet UCM.

The same could be said of anything connected to a UCM over the network. The more layers you add, the more likely any single point in the chain will break the whole solution.

Your always going to have network / router issues whether it is a dedicated UCM or not - personally I would not want to have yet another UCM when the network one works just fine....

Yes but you know your system - if the other half happens to start using the app while you are logged on ............ or using the Pronto etc....
ANYTHING that can be done to avoid these situations is paramount to this - remember what is actually happening is that the Cytech app is TOTALLY reliant on the network - and there is lies the dilemma.
Cytech has no control over the network. Invarialby the installer will have no control over the network.
What must be first and foremost in the minds of who ever designs this app is WHEN the device does not work (and this is going to happen) the first thing that the customer thinks of is \' there is something wrong with the network\" NOT \" Oh the alarm is not working again and it\'s never been right\" etc etc.
So that is why i am pushing so hard for Cytech to take on board this fact.

Yes and as i have said in reply to other posts the fact is that the installer will not have controll over the network. That is to say he will not own it or have installed it.
