Partitioning
#1
Hi,

Can someone explain partitioning and whether it\'s supported yet as I\'d like to add to support in ComfortClient if it is at some stage.

In the latest Comfort Protocol manual you say:
Quote:PR - Partition Set

PC: PRNN

UCM: PRNN

NN is the partition for the user to be used when arming (0-3) This sets the UCM into the specified partition so that m! And M! Commands can arm the required partition and S? And other security queries can return the value for the partition. If the partition is not defined before the arming commands, then partition 0 is selected, or if the user is authorised only for 1 partition, then that partition is selected If the user is not authorised to arm or disarm in the partition then the request is rejected in the same way as a wrong sign in code is entered.

The partition set in this command is active until another partition is set.

PR without any parameters returns the current partition

Eg

PC PR

UCM PRNN

If NN = FF it means that there is no partitions defined in this system
Defined 19/4/2009
In the latest Installation manual (EngmanG2, Page 62) you say:

Quote:Can Comfort be Partitioned?
Comfort does not have any partitioning feature, where the system can be subdivided into two or more independent partitions, able to be armed and disarmed independently. However, it is possible to use the OMIT action (from v4.96) to bypass a group of zones (programmed as immediate in all modes) usually using a key switchor a stand-alone access control keypad to achieve a similar function. Refer to the Application Manual for the programming and setup.

Overall I'm confused and seeking clarification and references to more info?

Regards

Julian

Partitioning is the ability to split up the security zones into 2 or more independent systems, called Partitions. It is a common feature for Intruder alarm systems but is not implemented in Comfort.
The UCM commands are meant for testing purposes for the eventual implementation of Partitions but have no effect at present

Partitioning is difficult for Comfort compared to simple security systems, because of Comfort\'s features with Voice keypad, home automation, and other capabilities. This is still under unvestigation

Hi Ident.

Thanks.

If those commands went in in 2009 though then assume this is a longer term project then for you or something that has been \"parked\" in the meantime?

Is there any news about partitions?
In our region it is very common to use partitions and thats why Comfort does not suit for many costumers right now.
Are you planning to add partitions?
For example if I have garage or sauna house in my garden I would be glad to have a different keypad that works only for these partitions and from house it has to be very easy for the costumer to arm and disarm garage or sauna house.
Now it can be done with bypassing, but costumers dont understand it and with a very small LCD it is difficult for them to remember how does the bypassing works.

Partitioning in Comfort is very much more difficult than normal alarm systems becaiue of the functions of our keypad

You can use a KT03 for the separate areas. a button could be programmed to bypass or unbypass a number of 24-hours zones  and show the bypassed status so it would be easy for the users. This would be a practical solution which has already been implemented in some houses by installers
