Minder Pro ( Comfort )
#1
Hope this is the correct forum. I have a clipsal alarm system which is called Minder Pro and it looks exactly like the Comfort panel. Clipsal has discontinued these panels but i I was told it is now Comfort who makes them.

My questions:

1. Is Comfort the same as Minder Pro. ( Hardware looks the same to me)

2. Clipsal used software called MindIT to program the panel, can not find this anywhere, will the Comfigurator software work .

3. My panel is connected to CBus via the UCM. I tried to program automation into the panel with action codes, but could not find action codes on your website for CBus.

Can Somebody please point me in the correct direction.

The answers are;
  1.  Yes
  2. Yes, use the latest version from https://www.cytech.biz/comfigurator.html?category_id=98
  3. You use Response Wizard and select UCM > Cbus actions. You need to download the UCM/Cbus manual from https://www.cytech.biz/ucmcbus_manual.html
If you are new to Comfort, you can access all the updated manuals, software, technical notes, brochures, and other materials on Dropbox using this link

Thank you very much, this is n great relief. I forgot to ask, I do not see a serial port on the alarm panel, how do I connect to the panel? I have the UCM module with the plug in UCM/Cbus module> Do I need to buy the USB or Ethernet plug in module? If so, which one is nicer to have, I would think the ethernet. The only problem I can see is that I only have one UCM thus for programming I will have to remove the CBus plug in module and plug in the Ethernet/USB module.

Is it then correct if I say that I will not be able to have the alarm on Cbus at the same time as connecting the alarm to the internet with the Ethernet module.

You can buy UCM/USB or UCM/Ethernet for programming Comfort. This UCM can use for programming and take away later for next job, so its good investment

You can add  8 UCM

UCM/Cbus should have ID =2, UCM for program should have ID=1

I like UCM/eth as it let you program comfort from LAN or even internet so good for remote support for my customers

You cannot change the plug in Cbus module with the ETH, the firmware on the UCM is not same, they are two different UCMs completely

Thank you for this info. So just to make sure I understand you 100%. I can not use my current UCM. I need to buy a new UCM+ Ethernet board. And in that case the CBus UCM will stay where it is and the new UCM will slot in and then I can use CBus and Ethernet at the same time.

Where do I order this UCM and what is the price?

Thanks

I would def go for the Ethernet option, as it will give you iPhone app control with it if you want!

Try OmniSolutions in Cape Town or the distributor up here in JHB. There is also the Cytech option.
