Hi,
I would like to seek confirmation how to wire up a 4 wires smoke detector for my Comfort system. Based on Comfort manual, it should be wired as per Figure 2.12.
Q1. If I donââ¬â¢t have the EOL Relay, can I wire it according to Figure 2.11 instead?
u mean wire up like PIR with a tamper contact?Smoke detectors may not have tamper contacts
The purpose of End of line relay in the photo is to give a Zone Trouble alarm when the 12V power is lost.
If you do not put in relay just connect the 4.7K resistor in parallel with the smoke detector contactsThis is a double end of line connection. It will give zone trouble when the wires are open circuit or short circuit.
Thank you for your response. Unfortunately when I wired a 4.7kohm resistor in parallel with the smoke detector and tested it, the system responded with a ââ¬Åzone troubleââ¬Â announcement and NOT a fire alarm activation.
Here is my 4 wires smoke detector.
\"Zone Trouble\" means that you have set the Zone Shunts as Douvkle end of line but you have not wired the 2 end of line resistors properly
They should be 2.2K (2.7K is OK) in SERIES, 4.7K in PARALLEL) with the open/close contact
Check your circuit cxarefully, you should be able to find the wrong connection
Thank you for the swift response. Does it mean that I have 2 options of wiring method?
Option 1) with 2 resistors, 2.7k in series and 4.7k in parallel with the
detector and the shunt is away from the terminal.
Option2) with one 4.7k resistor in parallel with the detector and the shunt
Closer the terminal.

To wire according to your ââ¬ÅOption 2) with NO resistors and the shunt closer to the terminal.ââ¬Â It will result in an open circuit if the detector is set to ââ¬ÅNormal Openââ¬Â setting. Wouldnââ¬â¢t this will also result in ââ¬Å zone troubleââ¬Â if zone type 10 is used?
If the above statement is correct, this problem can only be resolved by setting the detector to ââ¬ÅNormal closedââ¬Â position and zone type 23 is used. Is it right?
If NO EOL resistors are connected and shunts are closer to the terminal block, then there wiil be NO zone trouble if the contacts are either open or closed
Whether you use Normally Open or Normally Closed zone type depends on whether the smoke detector is Normally Open or Normally Closed.
The zone type settings can be changed accordingly to your requirements, you are not restricted to using specific zone types as they can all be altered.

Gentlemen, thank you for your support. I decided to wire it with 2 EOL resistors and it works perfectly. However, one end of 2.7k resistor and the COM cable joint is ââ¬Åhangingââ¬Â with no additional termination point to attach to because there are only 4 termination points for this type of smoke detector. I may have to add an additional termination point on the detector cover to secure the joint.
