Communication Failure 81
#1
I still have a Comfort 1 (yes, I know, time to change!).
All of a sudden I have heard the keypad announcing \"Communication Failure 81\".  I can\'t find any reference to \"81\" in the various documents which talk about SEM, LEM etc - so I am hoping someone can shed some light on where I need to look.
It may be related, or maybe not, but I have always had zones 1 and 5 configured to announce when they are activated.  They are both zones on the main board, of course. At the moment, I hear the announcement for zone 5, but not for zone 1.
Any thoughts would be very welcome.
Thanks,
Nick

\"Communications failure 81\" . Refer to this post for the meaning of the IDs http://www.comfortforums.com/forum77/5051.html

81 is RIO or IRIO ID 1. Do you have an old RIO?

Hi Chiu,
Thanks for the prompt and helpful response.  I do indeed have an old RIO, so that makes sense. I have just had a poke around with my meter and I can see 12V on JP12 which is the power coming in. But on the connector blocks, I am only seeing 0.39V between the 12V and 0V connections - so something is pulling that voltage down.
So, tomorrow (when I am properly awake) I will have a look to see whether something is shorting the RIO output. If not, then maybe what looks like it\'s a small voltage regulator on the RIO board may have died.
On your point about upgrading, do you have a recommended UK installer?
Thanks,
Nick

Hi, I needed to make a small change to a RIO command, I did a selective write then got an error comms failure 91, I only have four RIOs, with ID 1 to 4 but after a module scan I got an ID of 11 which was ID4 , then I performed a full write and it changed to ID10.

I restarted the system and got the functionality back of my four RIOs but I still had a comms error 91.

I did a complete power off restart of the system and now I have four RIOs ID1, 2, 3 and 11. I now have a comms error 83.

RIO supply voltages look OK and the led flashes whenever I change an input.

Ultra 2 (8.013) UCM10 (7.225) 4x RIO (20101)

Any help would be appreciated.
