UCM/Ethernet Not Connected
#1
We have encountered several instances where a customer reported that although Device Manager was able to detect the UCM/Ethernet, but Comfigurator was not able to conect to the UCM for upload/download. When returned to us for testing, there was no problem found.
We suspect that the non connection problem is due to a bug with Comfigurator. Chech that the PC is able to connect to the UCM/Ethernet by using anither program like Hyperterminal or Wizcomfort, or even Comfigurator but using the Monitor I/O mode (Transfer > check Monitor I/O ). The monitor I/O window will open. Enter LI1234 (assuming 1234 is the user code). the reply LU01 should be seen indicating that you have logged in. This means that the UCM/Ethernet is workng correctly

Try this procedure to get Comfigurator working with the UCM/Ethernet;
 1. Change the Options > Connection to Serial
 2. Do System Information.  This will fail and \"UCM  not responding\" will appear
 3. Change the connection back to Network and enter the correct IP address and Port
 4. Do System Information again. This may now work
This workaround was contributed by Warby, who spent much time trying to get it to work. If anyone else has the same problem please try it while we are verifying if Comfigurator needs to be modified

Note: Please disable Flow Control on the UCM by removing  SW8  shunt H, as Flow control is not needed.

We have finally found the reason why the UCM/Ethernet sometimes does not connect with Comfigurator.
If Comfigurator is started after the UCM/Ethernet is running, then it works OK

If the Monitor I/O window is not open then there is no such problem. The Monitor I/O window is opened by checking Transfer > Monitor I/O. This allows the communications between the PC and the UCM to be seen,

However, if the Monitor I/O window is open, AND if the UCM/Ethernet is RESET when Comfigurator is open, then it will fail to connect and you will not be able to login or download/upload. Remember that a Reset of Comfort and the UCM takes place after a full download.

The  workaround in the above post works. However, an easier solution is to close Comfigurator and open it again after the reset. Or dont open the Monitor I/O window. Now you will be able to connect to the UCM/Ethernet

The reason for this behavior may be in the way Comfigurator opens the TCP/IP port and is being investigated

This problem does not occur with the Comfigurator 3.01
