Comments on iphone app V1.40 to 1.42

Trying the camera as suggested but not really working, may be my cheap ass camera though :-)

I know I mentioned this earlier but would be great if in the zone screens the active zones could be displayed as a red colour or flashing icon to stand out against the non active ones ?

One other suggestion related to local LAN or Internet access! Is it necessary to have this option ? For example I find it easier to create two separate systems, one with LAN settings called comfort home, and the other with Internet settings called comfort away!

This way it\'s much easier to select how to connect based on where you are as it\'s only 1 level to select system whereas the other way you have to go two levels deep to turn on LAN selection or Internet connection option!

It is a good idea to have 2 systems, 1 for remote and 1 for local.
However it is necessary to specify LAN or Internet. If you are connected by Internet, it tells the app that when you arm to away mode, you are not in the house and you do not need to exit. If you are connected to LAN, you are at home and the system will wait for you to exit

Of course you can enter  the Internet IP address on the LAN field and vice versa and fool the app, but this is what it is used for

Thanks Ident, it does make it easier having two systems that switching between lan/internet. I understand the use of the LAN field now also.

Are there any plans to change the icon for active zones to a coloured one (red for example for active/on zones) to make it easier to identify them ?

Eamon

Would it be possible to add support for a hostname for the internet address. For those of us that have a dynamic wan ip and use a dynamic updater service.
Its a pain having to keep changing the internet ip in the app.

You can enter a URL in the IP address.  Enter the hostname without the http:// prefix

This should work if the redirection does not require a login code
Let us know if you have any problems

Tried that am not seeing any traffic on my router when using a hostname works fine with ip address.

We have confirmed that a hostname does not work unless it is through a browser
We will try to figure out another way to obtain the dynamic IP address in future

I am not sure about this problem.
I have a dynamic wan ip and use a dynamic updater service, DynDNS.com.
I use the hostname without the http:// prefix, its a simple hostname like xxxxx.eu
I connect no problem from the internet.

Thats right, you can connect to a redirected URL from a browser specifically
The browser sends a request to the host which sends the IP address.
That is why it can work on the cameras page which basically uses a browser
This does not work from an app which is not a browser. There will need to be another solution
