Dependencies to iPhone App
#1
Hi all,
I downloaded the iPhone app (to my iPad) this evening and had a quick play. I couldn\'t make it work, but having read all the docs, I think that\'s because I\'m not running the right firmware. However, I also use a CWM as my ethernet/UCM - so is that compatible with the app?

I\'ve setup a connection with the appropriate IP/port, and can get the app to the \'connected\' state. When I enter the login code though, nothing happens at all.

I\'m running:
Comfort II Ultra - 5.202
UCM Type 5 - 5.128
Comfigurator 3.2.5.0

It also sounds like the upgrade may require a 2nd (upgraded) UCM, so could someone please confirm what versions I need, and the easiest way of getting there given my setup?

Many thanks

The minimum firmware versions are listed in the post
http://www.comfortforums.com/forum96/2327.html

Your Comfort needs to be upgraded to the latest version

CWM currently does not does not support the function. However a new CWM firmware version 6 will be released soon. If you would like to test a prerelease firmware send an email to support@cytech.biz

I suggest you also upgrade your comfigurator to the latest version 3.3.1

Please note the CWM is not really suitable for the iPhone/iPad application because to access the TCP pass through port you need to press F0 on the keypad

Also only one connection can be made at a time so you cannot access the CWM by browser and the iPad at the same time

Hi Ident,
Thanks for the responses.
Will the new CWM firmware mean that it won\'t be necessary to enter Engineer mode to use the iPhone app? If not, then I guess it\'s not really viable to use a CWM.

If so, then yes, happy to be on the pilot.
Thanks,

Yes you would still have to press F0 to access the passthrough port on the CWM.

Are there any plans to change that for the future, or isn\'t that possible.

If not, I guess I need to change it for the Ethernet module if I want to use the iPhone app.
Thanks

Yes it is possible but it may affect other users who may depend on the protection of the passthrough port
The best solution at present is to get a new UCM/Ethernet

Hi ident

With the new cwm firmware can you advise of what changes are being implemented?

Also with regards the need to press f0 to use the iPhone app with cwm, could this not be a user enabled feature on the cwm to allow people to decide if the need this or nit?

It\'s just the cwm is not a cheap device and you would expect it to offer similar functionality as ucm/eth! I know fir example when I purchased my cwm, I did it in the belief that I wouln nit need to purchase a ucm/eth as well!!

Please can we have the cwm deliver full functionality of ucm/eth?
Regards

I bought it for exactly the same reason.

Before we continue further, lets remember that everyone who bought the CWM did so because of its actual capabilities, not for what you would like it to do one day. The UCM/Ethernet and the webserver are different platforms each with its own advantages and limitations.
