The biggest problem with Rs232 is the direction of the TX and RX and the male/female sides so which pin to connect to what? It is difficult to remember and sometimes you have to do trial and error
That is why we have Male and Female Rs232 DE9 connectors so you use the RS232M to connect to a 3rd party Rs232 Female using a straight 9 way male to female cable
Manufacturers should provide Rs232 interfaces with DE9 connectors instead of loose wires so the correct cable can be used to connect to the UCM
