BATTERY warning - I have absolutely no idea what to do!!

Please help me. I am not technical, and have no idea what to do.

Daily, around 8pm the keypad goes off and says \"battery warning\"

What battery needs to be replaced? I am assuming in the keypad? If so, what battery and how? (I cannot see a way to get the plate off the keypad).

The system is over 10 years old.

This is the battery test running daily against your main battery inside the comfort enclosure and nothing to do with the keypad which is just reporting a failed battery test as a trouble condition on it\'s display.

You need to replace the battery.
you will get one in your local alarm equipment wholesaler

They need to be replaced every 5 years it will be inside the big grey/white metal box

Thanks. If I take the cover off will the alarm think it\'s tamper/intruder and go off?

As I would need to take it off to find out what battery I need before I go buy one.

The tamper alarm will probably go off of you open the cover
Quickly enter the code to disarm afer it goes off

It is better to call an installer to supply and do the replacement if you have doubts

I am assuming that I need a Comfort installer? Or can anyone do it?

Last one of these I purchased myself was from my local Maplin store in the UK. Replacing is just a case of opening the case, signing in to acknowledge tamper raised, slide off the two spade connectors on old battery and remove and attach spade connectors on cable to new battery (observing correct polarity etc). Put back in case and cover on again. If you are still nervous then I\'d agree you probably need to find a friendly local alarm installer to help.
