Email Settings
#1
Hi there...

When using an email account with a long username, which takes up all the characters available in this field I found that when the UCM authenticates it sends the username and password as one long string and hence the authentication fails.

For example say your email address was home@emailcompanynam.com and the password say \'test\' then when the UCM authenticates it sends the username as one string i.e. home@emailcompanynam.comtest

Seems this is a bug so I have worked around it by shortening the email account but this may not always be possible.

Anybody else experience this?

Thanks

Did you enter \"home@emailcompanynam.com\" in the user name field?

The user name is not the email address. it is the user name that you use to sign in to your email account when you send an email

See the screenshot below as an example

SMTP server is mail.cytech.biz port 587

The user name is techsupport. This field has a maximum length of 24 characters

The 4 fields on the right, user1 name to user4 name are not email addresses. These are the users who activate an alarm type, eg users who arm and disarm the system

The 4 user names are not related to the 4 emails on the right, which are the email addresses for sending out

Hi there...

In the case of our hosting provider the username is also the full email address, so to access the mail account you have to use the full email address as the username.

When I used the full 24 characters (unfortunately our domain name is rather long), then the ETH03 failed authentication. When I checked the server log I noticed that the ETH03 was authenticating as one long string including the password.

I proved this was a bug by creating a new email account that was 1 character shorter. Then the EHT03 authenticated just fine and the email worked, so I have a solution but thought I\'d raise the issue in case someone else was facing the same issue. Fortunately I could simply create a new email address but if I couldn\'t I would have been stuck.

Thanks
