Entering a Duress code will disarm the security system, but it will do a dial out to the programmed phones in the Duress Alarm Type.

The Duress code in Comfort is any user code +/- 2

eg for user code 1234, the duress codes are 1232 and 1236 and # key
If you enter the wrong code, try again. dont forget to enter the # key

To program the dial out for Duress Alarm, go to Security Types > Alarm Types > Duress Alarm, and enabled the Dialout checkbox and the checkboxes for the phones 1 to 8 which should be called for this alarm

There are 3 modes for arming - These buttons are on the rightmost row on the keypad.

Away (top right button with lock symbol)
Night (with Moon symbol)
Day (with Sun symbol)

Arm to Away mode when everyone is leaving the house. All zones are active. When the Away Button is pressed, the keypads will announce any open zones eg \"kitchen window\", \"back door\". Close all the open zones. When all zones are closed or secured, the keypad says \"Please Exit\" and repeats this every few seconds. This means that you must exit from the house via the Entry door (usually the front door) within the Exit Time, by default 30 seconds. When the entry door is closed after exit, the keypad will announce \"Away Mode\", the strobe light (part of the siren) will turn on for a few seconds and the siren may chirp to confirm that the system is armed.

Arm to Night Mode when there are people in the premises. In Night mode, there may be certain motion sensors in the house that are not active to allow occupants to move in these zones, or there may be windows that can be left open without causing an alarm. This depends on the programming of the system.

Zones that are programmed as PIR Away (Zone type 18) do not cause alarm in Night Mode but will cause alarm in Away Mode
Zones that are programmed as PIR Night & Away (Zone type 5) cause alarm in Night Mode and Away Mode.

[/color]There is no need to exit when arming to Night Mode. The system will be armed after the Night Exit Time (Default 2 seconds). If there are Open zones, these willl be announced on the keypads until they are closed. The keypad will not announce \"Please exit\" as it does in Away Mode arming, but the slow beeps will be heard on the keypad. The keypad announces \"Night Mode\" when it has armed successfully

Arm to Day Mode when there are people in the premises similar to Night Mode. The difference in Day Mode is that all internal motion sensor zones [color=\"#0000ff\"](PIR Night Away zone type 5 and PIR Away Zone type 18)[/color] are not active, but doors and windows (Zone Type 1) are active. This allows people to move freely within the house while keeping the system armed. The system can be armed to Day Mode in the day and to Night Mode before going to bed. The keypad announces \"Day Mode\"

Note that if there are no Zones in Zone Type 18 (PIR Away) there will be no difference between Night and Day Modes.[/color]

Force-arming
when arming to any mode and open zones are announced you can \"Force Arm\", ie automatically bypass open zones to allow the system to be armed. This is done by pressing the # key on the keypad, or if arming by the telephone voice menu, pressing # on the telephone. Force-armed zones are bypassed until they are closed, whereupon they become active again, ie will cause an alarm when the zone is opened.

I am using \"If UserNo = 1 Or UserNo = 2 \" to distinguish the Responses we want run if it is my wife or I that Arm the system, but it appears that these are never running even when it is only us who are leaving and entering the house.

When I look at the Event Log I can see the following entries when the system is disarmed, and then armed 2 days later:

Many systems can aso be controlled by smart phone apps. Comfort has separate apps for iPhone, iPad, Android tablets and Android Phones.

In our opinion, fancy switches, touchscreens, remote controls, and smart phones are not the essence of Home Automation. Practical home automation is more than user interfaces.
The allure of switching things on and off for their own sake using designer switches, phones and tablets will quickly fade after showing off a few times to friends and family. In the end, the value of a home automation system depends on the real benefits to the end user acording to their needs, apart from the user interface, like intelligent management of security and subsystems in the home in energy saving, better security, comfort and convenience which take place without the active intervention of the home or office occupants.

A practical home automation and security system is not just for the rich. A basic system with installation can start from several thousand (US) dollars depending on installation costs where you live. Coming home and opening the front door at night can switch on the lights near the entry door. When armed to Night Mode, non-essential lights and appliances can be switched off.

At night after bedtime, lights in the passageways or staircases can be switched on if motion is detected and automatically switched off after a few minutes when there is no more motion in the area. Time programs can also schedule the switching on of lights and appliances for each day of the week.

Blinds and curtains can be lowered or raised and sprinklers controlled based on Time programs for each day of the week.

Integration with most 3rd party systems is not by crude hardwired output/input but by data interface at the protocol level.
