I have had UCM 4.101 installed for many years now, and use it to communicate between Comfort , a pc and Homevision. This morning I noticed that they had stopped communicating, and discovered that the red and green LEDs on the UCM are not flashing as expected. Red is unlit, and green is continually on.
What does this mean? If the UCM board is dead, will I be able to replace it with a more modern one, or will I have problems with compatibility?

Press the RESET button on the UCM. Does the RDY led turn on? If so the microprocessor is still working
The Green D10 led indicates communications from Comfort. It appears to be steady on, but it is actually flashing quickly. The red D9 led flashes more slowly as it indicates replies from the UCM to polls from Comfort. Check that the ID shunts on SW7 are correct or have not fallen off, as this may be a reason for the UCM not responding to polls
The RDY LED is permanently lit, and pressing reset makes no difference. You are quite correct, D10 is flashing twice very quickly in a repeating pattern. The three shunts on SW7 are in place and seem OK to the touch.
Where does that leave me?

Can you check that the Number of UCMs is 1 at least otherwise Comfort will not poll the UCM. Do a Transfer> Upload Selective (Comfort -> PC ) and select Modules and Settings. Check the number of UCMs
You may not have made any changes but you should confirm the Number of UCMs
OK. I assume I need configurator for that? If so I will d/l a copy and follow the instructions.

You can also check the number of UCMs using the keypad. Go to Engineer Menu 7,4,1 for Locations, enter [color=\"gray\"]1673#[/color] [color=\"red\"]Correction 1672# NOT 1673 [/color]for number of UCMs, the number announced in the Location will be the number of UCMs. The menu allows you to enter a new number to change it. After that, exit from keypad by pressing F and Reset the Comfort if you have changed the number of UCMs

Sorry, I made a mistake in the above post. The location should be 1672 for number of UCMs, not 1673
Thanks, I have now checked this location, and as expected it has a value of 1. Any other ideas?

I am afraid that means that your UCM is probably dead
You can either send it for repair or get a new UCM05, which is recommended. UCM05 will be compatible with Comfort I. It can upgrade firmware on Comfort II, although that is of no use to you
