Receiving zwave network updates

As far as I can tell, we have to request status updates.

With the homeseer usb interface, which is a secondary controller,  this does occaisional polling for information on the zwave network.

Can the zwave ucm do this automatically ? or we have to do this ourselves programmatically ?

You have to do it programmatically. This is more flexible as it allows you to determine how often the updates should be. Too much traffic may slow down the Zwave network
