I have problem on a complex system with commucinations failures. As a first step I have upgraded the Comfort II Utra from 5.1XX to 7.27 and I was attempting to upgarde the UCM 6 (PCB PC01-066A) from 5.1 to the latest version. To do this I purchased a new UCM board (PCB PC01-066A 1)firmware version 6.XXX. I couldn\'t get a ETH02 versions so I am using the ETH01 from the previous version. No matter what I try the UCM always comes back no response. The UCM is addressed as 1 and SW8 F link is made. ( I have tried other addresses and link settings but to no avail.
I can ping the ETH01 and set it, reprogram, etc from the network. I have tried both on MAC and a PC, and I have connected directly over a crossover cable.
If I use a scope on the Data transmit and receive lines on the 485 ICs of both the Ultra and the UCM, I can clearly see data at the correct levels.
When I connect other keypads etc on the RS485 bus they operate and I can enter the 4 digit password, so the bus seems to work.
My inention was to reprogram the old UCM6, but at present I can\'t seem to do anything with the UCM.
The ETH01 D103 seems to be flashing 3 times, indicating tha the connection is being established. DS manager shows the connection as closed.
Is there a firmware issue with UCM 6.xxx and ETH01?
Any help would be appreciated:?

Could it be that the SW8-F pins are bent inward so when the jumper is inserted the pins are not shorted hence it can\'t communicate?

It is strange that you could not get a ETH02. Do you mean it was not available as it is a common item
You should connect only 1 of the UCMs at a time if they both have ID1
The RDY Green LED on the UCM should be stead on
Can you see the D9 red and D10 green both blinking? If D9 is off it means the ID is wrong

I couldn\'t see any in stock in the UK. I have disconnected the 485 bus from all other devices to try and simplify the problem, so no clashes of IDs, also tried it at ID 1 & 2.
Checked jumper SW8 F, and replaced with different jumper.
D10 is blinking quite fast, D9 (red) is responding approx every second, with a short burst. Everything else on the Ultra board seems ok, it dials outs, keys ( when connected) say security off, and give communication failure when I isolate the other devices.
Looked at the RS485 bus with a scope and it seems fine. Always seem unable to log on to the UCM, it gives a UCM not responding message.

When I regress back to my original UCM it shows as type 10 firmware 5.159. Comfort Ultra Firmware 7.027 File system 34, it communicates to the Ultra, but I can\'t do a scan for devices with this version. So I suspect that there is either a firmware or board population issue with my new board.
Any thoughts?
Still none the wiser to find out which device is causing the RS485 to hang, and I seem to have wasted nearly 100 pounds on the UCM.

Some progress, I have now identified the faulty door station on the RS485. On the scope it constantly biased the comms to +5V.
However my UCM won\'t now write to the Ultra with V7 firmware, it will read from it, but won\'t write.
How can I use the new UCM, that won\'t work with the ETH01 to upgrade firmware on my existing UCM, and will my ETH01 work when I upgrade the firmware?
Thanks

Thanks, the new ucm is definitely a UCM6, purchased from CBUS shop. I will gladly buy a ETH02, but you now have me concerned that it won\'t work. Any thoughts as to why a UCM6 with 6.XXX firmware won\'t work with a ETH01?

ETH02 should definately work with UCM06
At the moment we cannot conclude that a ETH02 will give a different result from ETH01 if you cannot connect to the UCM unless the ETH01 is faulty
D10 green should be blinking fast and D9 red should be blinking steadily not in bursts
D9 blinking in bursts indicates that there may be a conflict in IDs with another UCM
Try disconnecting all other UCMs from the system
Also look at the pair of leds D11 (green) and D12 (Red)
when you send a command to UCM by Comfigurator, D11 Green should blink and when the UCM replies to the PC, D12 (red) should blink

The ETH01 works perfectly when fitted to the UCM6 with 5.XXX firmware. I can reprogram the Ultra PCB, I can monitor the bus, I can upload a program from the Comfort.
So I can definitely connect using the this combination, the ETH01 won\'t connect if I plug it into a brand new UCM6 using 6.XXX firmware.
There may also be an issue in that I cannot download a program to the Ultra using the ETH01 UCM firmware 5.XXX and Ultra Firmware 7.XXX.
To me this looks like a firmware incompatibility issue between the ETH01 and 6.XXX firmware.
Also when I upgrade Ultra firmware from 5.XXX to 7.XXX do I need to do anything such as revert to factory defaults. Obviously I would be hesitant to do this, as at present the Ultra won\'t accept programs.
