Comfort Ultra II as fire and smoke panel?

My building inspector has said I can use a comfort panel for linked smoke and heat detectors if it meets the BS standard (BS 5839-6).

I can\'t find any info about the Comfort conforming to BS 5839-6, can anyone confirm if it does (or the European equivelent if there is one!).

Comfort is not primarily a fire alarm system and we do not have  BS standard and do not know what are the requiremnents, so it is best to assume that Comfort does not conform to it, unless someone can confirm otherwise.

Is there a European equivalent to this British Standard?

Fire alarms for buildings are normally specialised products just for that purpose, and have different requirements which is not suitable for Intruder alarms like Comfort which can be programmed to control automation including lights and other functions.

On smaller builds below  200m/sq (2,152 sq/ft) it is largely down to interpretation.

If you comply with the rquirements of the standard down to the last dotted i and crossed T then it would become hard to justify the use of Comfort. The problem is that Comfort provides far greater sophistication in terms of dial out etc.

You will find that battery back up times and labelling and indicators are all requirements.

Not aware of a BSEN but there must be a standard - it probably is not harmonised !
