Moving from Alfawerks to Comfort2MQTT
#1
I have tested and successfully managed to install and run the Comfort2MQTT plugin on the installed default UCM that is also used for programming, this has since been stopped. I have the now defunct Alfawerks setup to communicate with Comfort and wish to move to the newer supported plugin and would like some advice moving forward. I am not particularly comfortable in messing about with the hardware due to my physical inability to crawl into the stupid cupboard the system was hidden in and awkwardness of working in there.
I therefore wondered what the most practical approach in moving would be. Can I Simply turn off Alfawerks - I assume just unplugging the ethernet is enough? and can I therefore use the one existing UCM to do both the very occasional programming, obviously stopping the comfort2mqtt in the process and use this for comfort2mqtt? Or can I repurpose the Alphawerk module or is the appropriate course of action, whch I am trying to avoid, to remove the Alphawerk module and replace with a new UCM?
Thanks

The alphawerks UCM had a custom, firmware, and it cannot be used as a general ucm

You have managed to set up the UCM/ETH03 to work with Comfdort2MQTT add-on with a raspberry Pi ?

Then you can use 1 port of the ETH03 for Comfort2MQ

I have attached through my network to my Home Assistant instance and yes it works but obviously clashes with Alphawerks which Is why I need to disable Alphawerks. So the questions are.
1. Do I need to remove/stop Alphaweks or simply unplug the ethernet cable (ideally)?
2. Can I use the main UCM, the one used for programming, for the comfort2mqtt or does that need a permanent connection for anything I may not be aware of. I dont use the Comfort apps for example, I only use Home Assistant and its connection to Comfort?

Yes you can.

If you want to program Comfort for any reason you need to stop the Comfort2MQTT App in Home Assistant. If you have automations or actions set in HA that actions something on Comfort then it will be unable to do so while you are upgrading or changing Comfort programming. You can't have more than one cook in the kitchen.

If you don't stop the Comfort2MQTT App, depending on the port you use, the one will disable the other when programming. When not programming they both (1001 and 1002) can be used together.

In short, never make changes to any system while users are logged in or using the system, it's a basic systems rule in any IT to prevent possible corruption or missed/lost transactions.

Thanks so much that is very helpful.
