Looking at the DS02 door station I need to surface mount it with a rain sheild. Am I right in saying I need a MA91 instead of a MA71 back box or do I need both?

You need MA91 instead of MA71.
The complete set of parts for DS02 for surface mount are MA41 (B&W) or MA43 (mono) or MA43C (colour), MA61 Froint Frame, and MA91 Rain Shelter See picture of MA91 below

We do not have a separate manual for DS02, but theDS01 Manual can be used as the connections are the same as for DS02. Please download from the link above
