Flashing the UCM Firmware by Programming cable is difficult

You guys have made flashing the firmware more difficult than it needs to be because the ZWave daughtercard covers the PP2 pins (you need to short) and you attach the daughtercard with those plastic push in spacers that are really fiddly to get off again.

In the end I found I could lever the daugtherboard just a few mm away at the bottom that I could slide in a really low profile jumper.  I nearly resorted to bridging with a crocodile clip but thought better of it in case anything shorted.

Not a very good design I\'m afraid for what otherwise is a simple job.  Perhaps you could shave 5mm off the bottom RHS edge of the card when you manufacture.  At least that would give us a fighting chance to get a jumper on there when we need to flash it.

New production versions of the Zwave module in future will not block the PP2 shunt on the UCM. There is currently a very small interference between the shunt and the edge of the Zwave module. If you are [color=\"#ff0000\"]very [/color]careful you can use a file to file away the edge of the PCB so that you can insert and remove the shunt without removing the daughterboard. If you do this make sure the filings dont get on the PCB as it may be conductive and short the components. Also make sure you dont file so much that you cut the track. If in doubt better leave it alone as you should not need to upgrade the firmware very much

On the one I have only one of the pins is in the clear and exposed.

As you say flashing is not a common activity but no point in making it any harder than it needs to be. :?

To update on this issue where there is a complaint from 2009 that it was diffcult to shunt the PP2 header in order to upgrade UCM/Zwave firmware, UCM/Zwave version  6 can be upgraded by Comfort Bus as shown in http://www.comfortforums.com/forum92/2409.html
It is not necessary to shunt the PP2 shunt
