Exterior Siren not working
#1
Some time ago the exterior flashing blue light stopped working.  Then, recently the exterior Siren failed but the interior siren was OK.  I purchased a blue light and a siren. I am too old to get up on a ladder, so I got a good handyman to replace both the blue light and siren.  The blue flashing light now works, the siren does not.  The handyman is sure he replaced wire for wire.  How can I test the siren for connectivity from the Configurator?  Any assistance would be appreciated.  I don\'t have a local installer available.

If you have a multimeter, measure the voltage between SRN- and SRN+ when the alarm is activated. The volatge should be 12V or above. If that is tru then the sieren box or wiring are wrong. If there is no volatge or the volatge is too low then the Comfort siren output is not working

I have tested it myself, multimeter in hand. Wiring is via a 4 pair, Cat 5 cable. There is power at the siren output on the main board but no power on the siren pair at the siren cage. I have redone both ends of the cable pair but still no power (some corrosion). The blue light works on its pair. The two other pairs are for the tamper and the EOL resistor. Can I surrender either of these to replace the failed cable pair to the siren? I can trace these pairs on the main and sub boards.

What does the EOL resistor on the siren side connect tro on Comfort? I am not sure that you need that

Hi Chiu, I have traced both pairs. The \"resistor\" is actually a light sensor and this pair goes to the Light Sensor module. The tamper alarm pair go to PC01-00bC terminal Z2 and Com (Common). Can I use the tamper pair? Robert

If you use the tamper alarm cable as a siren output, then you will lose the tamper alarmfor the siren If that is OK disable zone 2 by setting it to zone type 0
