door contact works fine in Security Check during testing but fails to arm
Posted by: flata4 - 05-24-2021, 10:18 PM - Forum: Troubles - Replies (1)

I am reaching out as I cannot find a rational explanation for the unusual behaviour of a wired shock and door contact detector. I am lost unless the faulty zone 16 has somehow not been programmed properly (although zone 15 if fine) or there is a strange software bug associated with zone 16.

  1. Comfort CP9000-ULT/EN03 “Ultra” with firmware 7.183
  2. LEM03-M2 for 16 additional inputs.
  3. 24 zones in total, all 24 are used.
  4. Comfigurator version 3.13.6.0
  5. Detector is dual shock + magnetic reed Premier Impaq+ with Contact by Texecom model # AED-0001.
  6. Faulty detector is zone 16. There is an identical detector in zone 15 which is working fine.
  7. Zone 16 and zone 15 are set as “DoorWindow [1]”, identical setup in Comfigurator.
  8. Security Check “walk mode” in Alarm > Arming and Disarming confirm that both zone 15 and zone 16 respond as expected to opening/closing of doors.
  9. The fault is lack of debounce i.e. the detector stays “active” as if the door were opened so the system cannot arm, although the door is clearly closed. Closure of door in zone 16 has been simulated by magnet too such in case, no difference.
  10. The obvious step is replacing the detector in zone 16, it has been done with new stock. Twice.
  11. Resistors are 2.2k and 4.7k. They have been swapped between zones 15 and 16 just in case, no difference.
  12. Impedances have been measure on zone 15 and zone 16 with their respective doors closed or open, the values are similar.
  13. Power to detector in zone 16 has been tested.
  14. Wiring detector in zone 16 to panel has been tested and continuity confirmed.
  15. Wiring at panel level has been swapped between zone 15 and zone 16 as a test. In that test zone 16 detector (now wired as zone 15) works fine. I wished I had tested that detector in zone 15 (now wired as zone 16) has now gone bad but I had not thought about it until writing this – this would have confirmed a firmware bug.
  16. Because of all the above, hardware fault of the detector or of the panel has been excluded.
  17. That leaves incorrect setup of zone 16 in Comfigurator so file is attached although zone 15 is programmed exactly the same as zone 16.
  18. Alternatively, there is a software bug in firmware 7.183 preventing arming due to incorrect reading of zone 16. Happy to provide data dump if told how.

  Ultra 7.192 (Beta)
Posted by: slychiu - 05-21-2021, 07:37 AM - Forum: Comfort Firmware - No Replies

Bugs Fixed

  • If firmware upgrade failed and Power off and on again, firmware uograde from UCM ID1 did not work
  •  Ultra could upgrade to EX by ETH03 plug in
  • UCM/LOG and KNX/LOG did not work with RIO
  • Eth03 plug in did not report RIO Input state change
  • Vacation Mode for partition system  did not set partition correctly
  • If no zones are in partition 0, cannot arm partition 0 without zones. exit time does not end.
New Features and changes
  •  When sign in by local r remote Phone,  if user is enabled for more than 1 parttiions, announce  \"select User\" to allow the user to select a higher partition. Normallyt users who are eabled for more than 1 partition are always logged in to the lowest partition.
  •  IDBUTTON pressed disable user response
  • Arm security system if partition has no zones dont allow arm/disarm
  • KP to DP Intercom. Keypad Press and hold button is one way KP to DP. If KP button is released then KP to DP is full duplex
  •  Added Test mode commands to support internal tester functions

This firmware is in Beta test, but as it fixes some bugs some may want to test it.

Old Farfisa with DM02 - Noise on speaker phone
Posted by: Krobar - 05-07-2021, 03:38 PM - Forum: Door Stations - Replies (1)

This install is 5 years old and the speaker phone never worked.
Today I found out that is because the Voice and MIC form the DM02 was not connected to the main PCB so it now at least works. T
There is a fairly loud constant buzz though between the door station and all keypads (Keypad to keypad audio is good). The cable is a heavily shielded cat7 and direct wired so should not be an issue I think. I tried removing J5 which just seems to make it louder. The wiring looks to be the same as page 8 in the DM02 manual and J1 is set 2-3. There are 3 spare wires as the grounds are all just connected together on the door station as are the two 12vs. My DM02 does not seem to have a J6. Any tips on how I can reduce the buzz?
Hmm, disconnecting the DS Speaker and Mic from the DM02 does not stop the buzz at all. The DM02 is in the middle of a JP8/JP8A module daisy chain, could this cause buzzing?

Added KP06A - Now get alot of audio distortion on all keypads
Posted by: Krobar - 05-06-2021, 07:58 PM - Forum: KP06/KP06A/KP04A Keypads - Replies (2)

I added a KP06A to my existing Comfort system which also has three KP06. After changing the ID the KP06A seems to detect and work but when it is plugged in all of the keypads suffer bad voice distortion (It is a sort of loud communication bus noise on the speaker). If I unplug just the KP06A KA/KB wires the noise problem goes away although obviously the new Keypad cannot communicate with the Comfort system.
Any ideas where the issue might be?

Failure with upgrading Firmware by UCM/USB
Posted by: slychiu - 05-06-2021, 10:49 AM - Forum: Firmware Upgrading Problems - Replies (1)

A possible failure when upgrading Firmware using UCM/USB may be plugging in of 2 or more USB interfaces into the Computer doing the upgrading.

This sometimes causes a loss of communications after some time.  It may work well for a long time, but may cause problems at other times.
It is best to remove any other USB devices from the computer before trying the firmware upgrade..

This applies to upgrading by firmware upgrade cable as well as by direct comfigurator upgrade.

We had a situation where firmware upgrade repeatedly failed using both methods. Then we noticed that there was another USB plugged in After removing the other USB, the firmware upgrade was immediately able to work

  Phone Trouble
Posted by: davidsilva - 04-16-2021, 09:33 AM - Forum: Troubles - Replies (2)

Hello,The message \"Phone Trouble\" is seen on the keypad LCD and heard as announcement when the Incoming Telephone Line, but the line is working and I can do calls. I also have a UCM/GSM4 and every times the alarm calls are doing by GMS instead of line. If I check the \"Ignore Line Cut\" option I leave to have the message \"Phone Trouble\" but the call continues to be made of the GSM. The line voltage is only 37V. So, is it a problem with the line or with the Comfort?
Best regards,

  SEP01 - Some simple questions
Posted by: Krobar - 04-13-2021, 08:03 AM - Forum: Expansion Modules - Replies (3)

Hi All,
I have an existing Comfort Alarm with all inputs in use and the case is full (2 UCMs etc). I\'m adding a garage and have a few simple questions about the SEP01-M2 expansion.

  1. Are only 2 wires required between the main alarm and the SEP01? If so, is pair from a shielded Cat6 OK?
  2. Can I connect 2 more keypads directly to the SEP01? (I have 4 on the main alarm)
  3. Does the SEP01-M2 pack with smaller enclosure include a battery?
  4. Will the SEP01 set off the alarm bell connected to the main alarm or does it need its own alarm bell?
  5. Is KP04 still a current product? (I use KP06 in the house but KP04 looks like a better match to surface mounting in a garage)
