Comfort Forums has been migrated to MyBB
Posted by: slychiu - 06-08-2025, 02:59 AM - Forum: Forum/Website - Replies (7)

The Comfort Forums has been migrated  from the old UltraBB to MyBB which is a modern Open source Forum platform. The categories, forums, subforums and users have been been transferred to the new platform which is better supported and has many more features

The URL remains as http://www.comfortforums.com or https://www.comfortforums.com

However the passwords for the user accounts cannot be transferred, so you will have to reset your password when you log in for the first time.

The steps are:
-    Go to the forum login page.
-    Click on the "Forgot Password" or "Lost Password" link.
-    Enter your username or email address.
-    Follow the instructions in the password reset email that MyBB will send.

Please be assured  that your accounts and posts are safe.

  Zone displaying on Keypad
Posted by: DavidJ - 05-26-2025, 04:10 PM - Forum: Questions on Programming Comfort - Replies (2)

My system just reset itself and said something about \"key\" when it did so. I have no idea why this happened and need to look at as a next issue but currently the keypad shows each zones as it becomes active. Initially (after reset) it was calling out each zone (like walk test) but I seem to have resolved that. Now pad just showing each zone as they activate. Any advice on how to turn this off?

  Voice Assistants
Posted by: slychiu - 05-18-2025, 03:41 AM - Forum: Comfort with Home Assistant - Replies (2)

The Home Assistant Voice Preview Edition is a voice assistant hardware which  seamlessly integrates with Home Assistant. Its audio processor and dual microphones allow it to hear your commands and control devices in Home Assistant similar to Amazon Echo.

The Getting Started Guide is here https://support.nabucasa.com/hc/en-us/ar...ew-Edition

one of the many Youtube videos on the setup and usage is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vceoL59pmkk

Setting up is easy. However note that if you use Duckdns with Lets Encrypt so that access locally and remotely by by https, Voice  PE will not work as it requires access by http for setup and operation.

You can select a preferred pipeline for processing the voice. This is done at setup but you can change it in Settings > Voice Assistants

A good description of these options are in the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhlIaBG3Ldo at around  2 minutes.

My experience is the performance of the speech recognition is far better with Nabu Casa Cloud (which requires a subscription) compared to the local processing options, though this may be due to my accent - It may work better for european and american  voices. There may be ways to tune the speech recognition engines but I have not explored them. The Cloud processing option is also significantly faster than the local processing.

.NET 3.5 prevents installation of Comfigurator
Posted by: slychiu - 05-16-2025, 07:34 AM - Forum: Comfigurator - Replies (1)

This affects new installations of Comfigurator on new PCs with new versions of Windows
Comfigurator installation requires .NET 3.5 to be installed, and will prompt for download and installation if it is not found on the PC.

When you try to install the downloaded .NET3.5 you may get a message \"a later version of .NET is already installed\" and this prevents you from going ahead with Comfigurator installation. If this happens go to Control Panel > programs and features.
Check the box for .NET Framework 3.5 shown below.

.NET 4.8 does not include .NET 3.5
The next version of Comfigurator will fix this problem or give instructions

  Comfort Register Monitor
Posted by: slychiu - 05-16-2025, 07:23 AM - Forum: Automation Programming - No Replies

Register Monitor
The new Register Monitor feature is very useful when you want to monitor a range of Comfort registers; Zones/Inputs, Outputs, Counters, Flags, and Sensors. Before this, you had to go to Zones to monitor zones, Outputs to monitor outputs, Counters to monitor counters, etc. This new feature allows all required registers to be monitored in a single window.

  Siren Output
Posted by: rodime - 05-14-2025, 03:15 PM - Forum: Questions on Using Comfort - Replies (14)

Hi there,

I am testing an external relay which I want to trigger specifically on a siren event.

To do so as a catch all, I am using the Siren Output setting within default partition 0 (I\'m not using partitions 1-3) to trigger the relay on an output zone.

1. Please confirm that the Siren Output within the partitions setting is in ADDITION to the regular siren output - ie BOTH will trigger on siren event.

2. So as not to disturb neighbours, I need to do extensive testing without triggering the physical bell box for this scenario. I believe the Bell Out needs to be left to Yes in order to trigger the Siren Output in partitions. What is the best way to disable the siren from sounding in this scenario. Without going into the bell box.

Thanks

Too many RS485 messages from PIRs
Posted by: Pharris15 - 05-11-2025, 09:39 AM - Forum: Responses and Actions - Replies (1)

I use the alarm PIR sensors to trigger devices external to Comfort via RS485 messages.
As the PIRs can retrigger multiple times when moving through a zone it means a lot of RS485 messages sent. This can mean that some triggers are delayed due to the amount of data.
What is the easiest method to reduce the number of repeat messages, is it a matter of adding a \"wait\" after a \'Universal SendCommand UCM02\' instruction?
